Let's be clear, Florida has a shortage of birds in the unbearable August heat. Birds are out in the early morning...and I am out in the late afternoon. The crossover just doesn't work. So here I go with the cheap shots to make a dent in my accumulated total bird points - off to the Naples Zoo!
Birds contained in the Naples Zoo:
Blue and Gold Macaw .5 points |
Military Macaw M & F 1 point |
Black Crowned Crane M & F 1 point |
To my surprise, the Naples Zoo is incredibly small (compared to my local zoos growing up in Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC) and does not have an aviary. Luckily for me, I boosted my bird point count by finding an incredible amount of birds found free and in the wild!
Red Bellied Woodpecker 1 point |
Blue Jay F .5 points |
Little Blue Heron F 1 point |
Little Blue Heron M .5 points |
Boat-Tailed Grackle F 1 point |
Williamson Sapsucker M & F 1.5 points |
White Ibis M & F 1.5 points |
Anhinga F 1 point |
Blue Jay M 1 point |
Brown Thrasher 1 point |
Boat-tailed Grackle M .5 point |
Great Egret 1 point |
Muscovy Duck M & F 1.5 points |
Muscovy Duck |
Tri Colored Heron 1 point |
TOTAL ACCUMULATED BIRD POINTS: 16.5
Annnd just for fun...
